Stamp of the Week: New Zealand Bear Hunt

This recent New Zealand Post issue was released on 20th May 2020. It recognises the phenomenon of the bear hunt that New Zealand families were entertained with during the COVID-19 lockdown. Through the simple act of putting a teddy bear in the window of their homes or other creative locations, New Zealanders were able to participate in creating a magical experience for kids (and big kids) during a stressful time.

The stamps were issued in a sheet of six stamps and each sheet included a $3 donation to the New Zealand Red Cross.

Each of the bears shown on the individual stamps was selected from a competition run by NZ Post during the COVID-19 lockdown and some of the eventual winners even featured on NZ television: NZ Post Teddy Bear Hunt (The Project NZ)
